PEO's 24 months.
In effect since Jul 1, 2026.
Since Jul 1, 2026, PEO asks for 24 months of engineering experience, down from 48, and the change applies to everyone, including people who applied before it. All 24 months before you submit your CBA. You can start your application any time. You still show all 34 competencies.
What changed
PEO's own page: "As of July 1, 2026, the minimum required engineering experience has changed from four to two years."
When you can submit
"You can mark the experience requirement as complete once you have entered at least two years of eligible experience and your CBA has been completed and validated."
"You don't need to wait until you have completed the minimum required years before documenting your experience."
What it doesn't change
Two years of experience is the minimum time, not the whole requirement: the CBA still asks you to show each of the 34 competencies with an example from your own work. Starting early helps, because the examples come from work you can still remember in detail.
